Resident Review: A Critical Component to Achieving PASRR’s Vision

This presentation will describe multiple ways nursing facility residents can be assessed through PASRR and aims to identify practices that can improve compliance with nursing facility requirements. Practices that can increase usefulness of Level II resident review and status change activity will also be discussed.
Speakers:
Nancy Shanley
Nancy Shanley has over 20 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral health, intellectual, and developmental disorders. Ms. Shanley has implemented and managed largescale statewide assessment projects, website development projects, and managed oversight of several PASRR contracts in multiple states. Ms. Shanley is a consultant for the national PASRR Technical Assistance Center. She is a co-founder and former chair of the Board of the National Association of PASRR Professionals (NAPP), and led speaker selection for their first year of this PASRR webinar series. Ms. Shanley was trained in person-centered planning (PCP) and has extensive experience testing and evaluating individuals with disability and psychiatric disorders. Ms. Shanley has extensive experience working with states to develop needs assessment projects in the Medicaid long term supports and services arena, especially with regard to waiver and community services programs.
Andrea Womack
Andrea Womack, M.A, is Director of Quality and Independent Contractor Services for Ascend Management Innovations. In this role, she oversees quality monitoring and reporting for Ascend’s PASRR and Utilization Review services as well as technical and quality support services for over 400 PASRR and specialty assessment independent contractors. Ms. Womack has designed and implemented quality protocols for multiple states to ensure compliance with state and federal PASRR requirements, clinical integrity, and person-centered assessments. Ms. Womack has also developed and delivered PASRR training for assessors, providers, clinical and quality reviewers. During her tenure at Ascend she has also overseen implementation and operations for multiple PASRR state projects. Previously, Ms. Womack worked in community mental health case management for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. Ms. Womack holds a master’s degree in Social Science from the University of Chicago. Ms. Womack also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of PASRR Professionals.
